Vinicius Jr exit looms as Real Madrid refuse salary parity with Mbappe

Real Madrid have refused to match Vinicius Junior’s wage demands amid growing uncertainty over the Brazilian forward’s long-term future at the club.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the 25-year-old is seeking a salary equal to that of Kylian Mbappe before committing to a contract extension beyond 2027.

Vinicius currently earns €15 million net per season, while Mbappe’s deal, including bonuses, reportedly totals €23 million per year.

Negotiations between the player’s camp and the club have stalled for months.

Real Madrid are unwilling to grant Vinicius a near 50% salary increase, citing both financial prudence and the player’s inconsistent form during the 2024/25 campaign, where he registered 22 goals in 58 appearances across all competitions.

Reports from Cadena SER indicate that club president Florentino Perez has already identified a potential replacement should Vinicius depart.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is the primary target, with Perez keen on pairing the prolific Norwegian with Mbappe at the Bernabéu.
