VIDEO: VeryDarkMan reacts as Sowore supporters fight, block court entrance

Social media critic and activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has criticised supporters of activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore following a scuffle that broke out at a court premises during Sowore’s appearance over a case linked to remarks in which he allegedly described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a criminal.

Videos circulating online showed some of Sowore’s supporters arguing and physically confronting one another outside the court, prompting reactions from observers and activists.

One of the supporters, who condemned the incident, said the internal conflict undermined the purpose of the gathering.

Go home safely, they are now fighting themselves. This is very bad. How will the government take us seriously? We came for a peaceful protest and ended up fighting ourselves.”

VeryDarkMan questions supporters’ conduct

Reacting to the development in a video shared on social media, VeryDarkMan questioned why people who had gathered to support Sowore would engage in violence among themselves.

You said you came to stand in solidarity with Omoyele Sowore, so why are you fighting yourselves?” he asked.

He alleged that some individuals attended the court proceedings not out of genuine support for the activist but to create content for social media.

According to him, some supporters also ignored earlier appeals not to obstruct access to the court premises.

Criticism over blocked court entrance

In another viral clip referenced by VeryDarkMan, one supporter was heard celebrating the blocking of the court entrance while demanding Sowore’s release.

The activist argued that such actions could negatively affect other court users and provide authorities with reasons to tighten security measures.

He explained that the Federal High Court houses several courtrooms handling different cases simultaneously and warned that noise and disruption could interfere with judicial proceedings.

The judges do not like distractions or noise while presiding over cases,” he said, adding that excessive disturbances could force security personnel to restrict access to the premises.

Call for orderly protest on June 30

VeryDarkMan urged supporters planning to attend Sowore’s next court appearance on June 30 to remain peaceful, organised and law-abiding.

He advised protesters not to block entrances or disrupt court activities, stressing that other citizens also have a right to access government facilities and attend their own cases.

According to him, exercising the right to protest should not infringe on the rights of others.

He further expressed hope that Sowore’s legal issues would be resolved positively and encouraged supporters to continue showing solidarity in a coordinated and peaceful manner.

“If you go to court on the 30th, please stand coordinated, observe the process and avoid giving anyone an opportunity to use your actions against the movement,” he said.
