Veteran Nollywood Actor Elegbeje Ado is dead

Taiwo Adeshina, an acclaimed Nigerian actor known for his roles as a herbalist and traditional priest under the stage name ‘Elegbeje Ado,’ has died.
Kunle Afod, a movie star, revealed his death on Tuesday via an Instagram post.
Afod described Adeshina as a “legend” in the Yoruba film industry, applauding his revolutionary impact on Nigerian filmmaking.
He also expressed condolences to the actor’s family, friends, and fans.
“We regret to announce the passing of one of the legends of the Yoruba Nollywood industry, Baba Elegbeje Ado,” he said.
“Your great contribution to the advancement of Yoruba cinema, your talent, and the joy you offered to countless lives will be remembered forever.
“Thank you for the wonderful memories and legacy you have left behind. May your soul rest in complete peace.
Our sincere condolences are sent to your family, friends, coworkers, and fans during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Baba Elegbeje Ado. “Your legacy will live on forever.”
Adeshina rose to prominence in the late 1980s, establishing a successful career that lasted over two decades.
He appeared in almost 100 films, including masterpieces like Akeke (Scorpion), Oko Abiku, Kadara Mi, and Ageku Abela.
In 2016, he gave up acting to devote his life to full-time pastoral ministry.
The funeral arrangements have not yet been revealed.
