Verydarkman claims ownership of “Don’t Play,” accuses Wizkid of sampling his trademarked phrase

Social media activist Verydarkman has stirred drama after claiming ownership of the popular phrase “Don’t Play,” insisting that it has been officially trademarked under his name.

This comes amid his beef with Wizkid over his claim that he is greater than Fela.

Verydarkman accuses Wizkid of sampling his words

In a viral video, he alleged that Wizkid sampled the phrase without permission, stating that many people were unaware that even non-musical phrases could be sampled.

He further claimed that other artistes, including Kizz Daniel, have also used the phrase, which he says shows how influential it has become.

VDM blasts Wizkid FC

Verydarkman also took a swipe at Wizkid’s fan base, urging them to grow stronger before coming for him, while boasting about the strength of the Ratel movement, which he described as a force of “nation builders.”

He said partly …

“Na me get am, look am. I use close to a million Naira take do my trade mark. All those names VDM, Verydarkman, I don trademark am since. So yes, na me get ‘Don’t Play’.

Wizkid sample me. While we think say na only musicians Wizkid dey sample, we never knew that he sampled my word, and I trademarked it. For you to know how big Don’t Play is, even Kizz Daniel use am.

So Wizkid FC, make Una join the fanbase of other celebs wey I don call out before for sc@mming or defr@uding people. When Una don big well well then make Una come for me. Una still no big pass Ratel movement. Na we be the nation builders”
