Uzor Arukwe (born August 6, 1983) is a Nigerian actor who is well-known for his film and theatre roles. He has appeared in several films, including A Tribe Called Judah, Malaika, Head Over Bills, Momiwa, Love in Every Word, and many more.

He is well-known for his appearances in both films and theatrical plays. Arukwe rose to fame for his performance as Inspector Sam in the 2017 film Sergeant Tutu, and he has since appeared in a number of Nollywood movies, including A Tribe Called Judah, Malaika, Head Over Bills, Momiwa, Love in Every Word, Criminal, and many more.

He spent ten years in the corporate world, working in telecommunications and retail, until he completely devoted himself to acting in 2018.

Uzor Arukwe, born on August 6, 1983, in Lagos, is a Nigerian actor from Nkwerre, Imo State. Uzor Arukwe is from a polygamous family in Imo State, Nigeria. His father had two spouses; his stepmother has one child; and his mother, Mrs. Uloma Arukwe, has two children.

Despite Uzor’s success in Nollywood, his father is oblivious of his acting career, having hoped for a more traditional one for him. His mother, on the other hand, is encouraged by his voyage. Arukwe has a brother, Ebuka Arukwe, and two cousins, Alvan Chimere Okechukwu and Chiedozie Ojinnaka. His family history exemplifies strong cultural ties and diversified partnerships.

Arukwe attended the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He later attended Abia State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He continued his study by earning a Master’s degree in Business Administration from a university in Calabar.

Career

Arukwe made his Nollywood debut in 2014 with the film Unspoken Truth. However, he rose to prominence after acting in Sergeant Tutu as Inspector Sam. His role as a private investigator in Code Wilo (2019) cemented his reputation in Nollywood.

His versatility has allowed him to play a variety of roles in films such as Sugar Rush, The Set Up, Hire a Woman, and Prophetess. In 2023, he appeared in A Tribe Called Judah, demonstrating his acting abilities. He has also been in television series such as Oga! Pastor and Unbroken.

He garnered two nominations for ‘Best Actor in Comedy or Movie’ in the 2020 African Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for his parts in Smash and Size 12, as well as one for ‘Best Actor’ in the 2021 Best of Nollywood Awards for his work in Yours Regardless.
