US embassy announces closure of Abuja branch , Lagos consulate general

The US Embassy has announced the closure of its Abuja branch and Lagos consulate general ahead of Christmas celebrations.
The announcement was made in a post on the US Embassy’s X account.

In the tweet dated December 23, 2025, it was announced that the Lagos consulate and US Embassy in Abuja will be closed effective December 24, 2025.
However, operations will resume from Monday, December 29, 2025.

The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Wednesday, December 24 through Friday, December 26, 2025. We will resume normal work operations on Monday, December 29, 2025.
