US embassy announces closure in Abuja, Lagos offices

The US Embassy has announced the closure of its branches in Abuja and Lagos on July 4, 2025, in observance of US Independence Day.
This annual holiday commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, marking the day the Continental Congress formally declared the 13 American colonies’ independence from British rule.
The closure affects routine consular services, including visa processing, at both the embassy and consulate.
However, emergency services are accessible through official contact channels for emergency assistance.
Normal operations are expected to resume on Monday, July 7, 2025, with regular services and functions fully restored.
