UK-based Nigerian student forced to return home after visa cancellation, despite 3,000 job applications

A Nigerian student in the United Kingdom is reportedly preparing to return home after her visa was cancelled, following an exhausting job search that yielded no success.

The young content creator, who has been documenting her japa journey online, applied to approximately 3,000 jobs and secured just 24 interviews, none of which resulted in employment or visa sponsorship.

Exhaustive job hunt yields no results

In a call to her parents, she reportedly revealed the urgency of her situation. “My visa has been cancelled. I have a few weeks left in the UK. If I don’t find a job that will give me visa sponsorship, that’s it,” she said.

Her father’s response, however, offered some comfort. In a calm and reassuring tone, he told her, “I can never reject my own. If they cancel it, come back to me. We are here.” His words underline the crucial role of family support during challenging moments abroad.

Parents offer emotional support amid crisis

Despite the challenges, the student’s journey serves as a reminder of the value of supportive parents and the need for resilience during setbacks.

While returning home is now a possibility, the experience gained and lessons learned abroad could lay the foundation for future success.
