Uganda Allows Citizens of 1 Country to Stay Visa-Free for 90 Days

Uganda has opened its doors to citizens of the United Arab Emirates, granting them visa-free entry for stays of up to 90 days, according to information published by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The policy applies to all types of UAE passports, including diplomatic, special, official, and normal, so any Emirati traveler, regardless of the nature of their document, is eligible for the visa-free arrangement without having to visit a Ugandan embassy or consulate first.

Who Benefits From Uganda’s Visa-Free Policy
The scope of the arrangement is broad. The 90-day allowance applies to all UAE nationals entering Uganda for tourism, study, medical treatment, or work.
Uganda is now one of the more accessible African destinations for Emirati travelers, as visa-free access is not limited to leisure visits.
Those who need to stay in Uganda for more than three months must apply for a residence permit that covers the additional period of stay.
Uganda’s Position in Africa’s Visa Ecosystem
Uganda joins a number of African countries that have recently revised their entry requirements in an effort to attract visitors and investors from Gulf states.
The UAE, which has a highly mobile population of nationals and residents who frequently travel for business and leisure, represents a significant source of potential visitors to East African destinations.
Uganda, known for its biodiversity, which includes mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and the source of the Nile in Jinja, has been working to expand its tourism industry.
Easing entry for UAE passport holders for all travel purposes, including work and study, demonstrates a broader desire to strengthen ties between the two countries beyond tourism alone. The Ugandan military chief expressed political interest.
