UCL: PSG seek to move Lens game before Liverpool clash

Paris Saint-Germain have requested the postponement of their Ligue 1 match against RC Lens, citing scheduling concerns around their upcoming UEFA Champions League tie with Liverpool.

The Ligue de Football Professionnel confirmed receipt of the request, with the fixture currently set for April 11, between both legs of PSG’s quarter-final clash with Liverpool.

Lens oppose postponement

Lens have strongly rejected the proposal, raising concerns about the integrity of the domestic competition.

In a statement, the club criticised what they described as a “troubling sentiment,” warning that Ligue 1 risks being treated as secondary to European commitments.

“Beyond this specific case, the question raised is a more fundamental one: that of the respect due to the competition itself,” the statement read.

Lens, who are pushing for their first league title since 1998, currently sit just one point behind PSG, adding further significance to the fixture.

Head coach Pierre Sage also indicated opposition to any rescheduling.

Decision rests with LFP

The final decision lies with the LFP, which has historically shown flexibility toward clubs competing in European tournaments.

A similar request was granted earlier in the season when PSG’s league fixture was postponed ahead of a Champions League tie against Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Strasbourg have also submitted a request to reschedule their match against Brest due to a scheduling conflict with Conference League fixtures.
