UCL: Palmer misses Chelsea training ahead of Atalanta tie

Cole Palmer was absent from Chelsea’s training session on Monday as the squad prepared for Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Atalanta.

This also means he won’t be available for selection for the Blues on Tuesday, in a crucial Champions League showdown.

Absence part of managed return

The omission is understood not to stem from any new injury concern.

Instead, it forms part of a controlled reintegration programme designed to manage his workload following a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

Chelsea expect Palmer to be available for the Premier League fixture against Everton on December 13.

Recent injury history

Palmer recently returned from a 14-match layoff caused by a toe injury, which worsened after a domestic accident.

He featured briefly in the 3-1 defeat to Leeds on December 3 before regaining a starting spot against Bournemouth, where he logged 58 minutes in the goalless draw.

Chelsea remain cautious as they balance his recovery with the demands of a congested schedule.
