The club issued a statement expressing their deep concern over the reports of a serious assault on one of their supporters in Milan on Monday evening.

The English side are currently working with local authorities to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident and are hoping for a full and speedy recovery for the injured fan.

Newcastle United supporters had arrived in Milan earlier on Monday and were seen enjoying the city’s sights.

However, a video on social media showed fans participating in a human bowling activity in the rain before the situation reportedly took a darker turn in the evening.

This Champions League clash marks the first time the club has competed in the tournament since 2003 (20 years) when they were eliminated in the qualifying rounds by Partizan Belgrade.

With new ambitious owners at the helm of St James’ Park, they hope that they can establish themselves as top contenders in this edition of the tournament.
