UCL: Kane, Díaz fire Bayern past Real Madrid in Spain

Bayern Munich claimed a narrow advantage over Real Madrid after a 2-1 win in Spain, with Luis Díaz and Harry Kane on target in a tightly contested Champions League clash.

The visitors started on the front foot despite a poor record against the Spanish giants in recent meetings. Early chances fell to Konrad Laimer and Dayot Upamecano, but both failed to convert promising openings.

At the other end, veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer delivered a standout performance, producing a series of key saves to deny Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior.

Bayern’s pressure eventually paid off when Díaz broke the deadlock, finishing calmly after being played through by Serge Gnabry I’m the first-half.

Kane extends lead, Madrid respond

Shortly after the restart, Kane doubled Bayern’s advantage with a composed first-time finish following a swift attacking move involving Michael Olise.

Real Madrid struggled to capitalise on their spells of possession, with missed chances proving costly.

However, their persistence paid off late on when Mbappé pulled one back, reacting quickest after Neuer initially parried his effort onto the crossbar.

The goal keeps the tie finely balanced ahead of the return leg in Germany.

Advantage Bayern ahead of second leg

Despite Madrid’s late response, Bayern head into the second leg with a slender edge, knowing another disciplined performance at home could secure progression.

For Madrid, the result leaves little margin for error, with the Spanish side needing a strong response to overturn the deficit and keep their European hopes alive.
