Born on April 13, 1966, in Lagos Island, Lagos State, he joined the police on May 18, 1992, and has progressively advanced through the ranks.

Disu has a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from Lagos State University (LASU) and a Master’s degree in Public Administration, Criminology, Security, and Legal Psychology.

He has also received substantial professional training in the areas of forensic investigations, internet fraud, small arms smuggling, and strategic leadership.

Since joining the police in 1992, Disu has handled a number of important jobs. He was Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos, where he oversaw urban crime reduction measures, and then Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), following the late Abba Kyari.

He has also served as Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, where he oversaw important security operations and public safety.

Most recently, he was appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police in command of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex at Alagbon, Lagos. Disu is well-known for his zero-tolerance approach to corruption, emphasis on professionalism, and efforts to improve investigative capacity within the force.

Disu has completed specific training in Nigeria and overseas, including small weapons smuggling investigations, online fraud, strategic leadership, and forensic investigations, to enhance his intelligence-led and tech-savvy approach to policing.

He has received recognition for his great leadership, winning accolades such as Police Commissioner of the Year, which demonstrate his dedication to successful law enforcement and public safety outcomes.

Disu is a member of several professional organisations, including the International Association of Chiefs of Police, which demonstrates his involvement with worldwide policing standards and networks.

His appointment as Acting Inspector-General of Police comes during a period of increased focus on security reform. He is regarded as a leader who blends operational expertise with a dedication to professionalism, accountability, and innovative policing techniques.
