“Truth be told” – Pastor who quit Deeper Life church shares details of his monthly pay

Pastor Dr Great Olalekan Martins, a former cleric of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has opened up about the experience that led to his exit from the church founded by Pastor W.F. Kumuyi.
In a Facebook post, the pastor alleged that more than two Deeper Life overseers wronged him, particularly during his posting to the Kabba region.

He claimed that one overseer fraudulently deducted his salary despite Pastor Kumuyi’s instruction that such deductions should stop.
In his caption, he wrote:
“He fraudulently deducted my salary against pastor Kumuyi’s instruction. Yet pst… out of greediness and wickedness was deducted out of my small salary in the name of GS when pastor Kumuyi had ordered that such deduction should stop..”
According to him, his monthly pay was ₦25,000, with no allowances attached.
He further alleged that the overseer involved earned about ₦300,000 monthly from Lagos, alongside benefits like health allowance, children’s school fees, and transportation allowance.
Great added that his attempts to report the matter to Pastor Kumuyi failed due to poor communication channels within the church.
According to him, his mother suffered a stroke eight years ago, but the pastors and church offered no help when his family sought support.
The experience, he said, opened his eyes and led to his deep resentment toward Christianity, sparking mixed reactions online.
His post triggered strong reactions online. One Facebook user wrote, “People think all pastors are rich. This shows the suffering some of them go through.”
Another commented, “If this is true, then churches need to start being transparent with how they treat their ministers.”
