Transfer: Arsenal weigh up record move for Victor Osimhen

Arsenal are actively exploring a potential club-record move for Victor Osimhen as they look to strengthen their attack ahead of next season.

According to Afrik-Foot, Senior figures at the north London club have intensified discussions around a possible deal, with sporting director Andrea Berta recently travelling to Istanbul.

During the visit, he attended the derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce and is understood to have held talks with club president Dursun Ozbek.

Arsenal shift from interest to action

Arsenal’s interest in Osimhen has been long-standing, but recent developments suggest a more concrete approach.

Manager Mikel Arteta is keen to add a proven goalscorer capable of delivering in decisive moments, particularly as the club pushes to convert strong performances into major trophies.

Osimhen has reinforced his credentials this season, scoring 13 league goals and providing four assists in 20 appearances.

His recent performance in the Istanbul derby, where he found the net in a 3-0 win, further underlined his impact in high-pressure matches.

Financial implications remain significant

Any deal for the 27-year-old is expected to be complex. Galatasaray are likely to demand a fee in the region of £100 million, which would represent a record sale for the Turkish Super Lig. The total financial package, including wages and bonuses, could approach £200 million over five years.

Osimhen’s current earnings are estimated at £17.5 million annually, meaning Arsenal would need to offer a contract close to £300,000 per week.

Such a commitment would place him among the highest earners at the club and require careful alignment with financial regulations.

Despite the scale of the investment, Arsenal’s improved revenue position, driven by European competition and commercial growth, places them in a relatively strong position to pursue the transfer, provided squad adjustments are made.

Potential departures, including Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel Jesus, could form part of a broader restructuring strategy.

With ambitions of closing the gap at the top, Arsenal view Osimhen as a strategic addition capable of elevating their attack and title credentials.
