“Train NYSC members for support system” – Pastor Ashimolowo send strong message amid worsening insecurity crisis

Lead Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, has urged Nigerians to unite in the fight against rising insecurity, stressing that the nation must adopt fresh strategies including training NYSC members to support security operations.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Ashimolowo commended President Bola Tinubu’s current efforts but noted that no administration can overcome insecurity without the cooperation and involvement of its citizens.
According to him, Nigeria is facing a deepening national crisis that requires both governmental action and public participation.
He believes that equipping NYSC members with basic security knowledge and training could help strengthen community protection and serve as an additional support system for security agencies.
Ashimolowo highlighted the strength and resilience of Nigerian youths, describing them as courageous, resourceful, and capable of contributing meaningfully to national safety if properly guided.
While calling for unity, he urged citizens to rally behind the president, stating that Nigeria needs collective responsibility to turn the tide against banditry, terrorism, and other criminal threats.
The clergyman also addressed the push for state police, warning that although the idea could improve local security, it might also be misused for political intimidation if not carefully regulated.
Pastor Ashimolowo’s remarks add to ongoing national conversations on innovative security reforms as Nigerians continue to seek practical solutions in the face of worsening insecurity.
