Tragedy as Hassan Abubakar passes away

Tragedy has struck the Nigerian Football Federation with the passing of Hassan Abubakar, a former Golden Eaglets coach.

According to reports, Hassan Abubakar passed away on July 8, 2025, after a prolonged illness in Zaria, Kaduna State.

He was known for leading the Golden Eaglets to significant victories, including their first African U-17 Cup of Nations title in Seychelles and a runner-up finish at the FIFA World Cup in Trinidad & Tobago.

However,Abubakar’s death has been  met with condolences from the football community, with ABS FC’s Director of Football, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, mourning his passing.

This comes shortly after the Nigeria Football Federation mourned the passing of another legend, Peter Rufai, who died just days before Abubakar.
