Tottenham seal £29.8m permanent deal for Mathys Tel after loan spell
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the permanent signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich for £29.8 million following a half-season loan spell, the club confirmed on Sunday.
The 20-year-old France U21 international has signed a six-year contract that runs through June 2031, becoming the first major acquisition under new manager Thomas Frank, who approved the deal after replacing Ange Postecoglou.

Tel arrived in North London in January for a £7.3m loan fee, scoring three goals in 20 appearances.
Despite Spurs’ underwhelming 17th-place Premier League finish, their Europa League triumph over Manchester United granted them an unlikely route into next season’s Champions League, a key factor in Tel’s decision to stay.
Initially hesitant about the move in January, Tel reversed course late in the window.
His increased game time at Spurs followed a frustrating spell under Vincent Kompany at Bayern, where he made only eight league appearances last season after a promising start at the club.
Currently representing France at the U21 European Championship, Tel scored from the spot in a 3-2 opening win over Georgia.
