“Tinubu smarter than Peter Obi, even Atiku” – Sowunmi
The Former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential campaign, Segun Sowunmi, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is far more smarter than his major rivals, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.
Sowunmi made this statement during an appearance on Politics Today, a programme aired by Channels Television on Monday.
Addressing speculation surrounding his recent meeting with Tinubu, Sowunmi clarified that the visit was not an act of disloyalty to Atiku or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He emphasized his political independence, stating that he is not bound to any individual or political camp.
“I am at liberty as an adult to take decisions. I am not tied to anybody. I am not anti-Tinubu. I own my mouth, I own my words, and I own my arguments,” he said.
The former Ogun governorship aspirant expressed admiration for Tinubu’s leadership style, noting that the president’s ability to adapt his approach sets him apart from other political figures.
“Do you know the difference between Tinubu and them? He doesn’t have one approach to dealing with everybody. By miles, he is smarter than them. He is smarter than Peter Obi, he is smarter than them,” he said.
When asked specifically if Tinubu is smarter than Atiku, Sowunmi replied, “He’s smarter than them.”
He also revealed that his relationship with Tinubu dates back to 1994, and that his visit to the president was an opportunity to understand why opposition parties frequently blame Tinubu’s administration for internal party crises.
