“Tinubu destroyed the economy, yet iPhone 17 Pro Max got sold out” – Reno Omokri slams Nigerians
Reno Omokri has stirred reactions on social media after slamming Nigerians for prioritizing luxury over necessity while complaining about President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies.
The social commentator called out citizens snapping up luxury gadgets like the $1999 iPhone 17 Pro Max, which is reportedly sold out in Nigeria.
Omokri tweeted on X that while many lament the state of the economy, they continue to spend extravagantly.
“President Tinubu did not finish Nigeria. All he finished is our fake life! We act as though we are poor when it comes to paying taxes, but we behave richly when it comes to blowing money!”
He highlighted the irony of Nigerians expecting government services while avoiding taxes and splurging on gadgets like the iPhone 17 Pro Max. According to Omokri, this behaviour reflects misplaced priorities rather than economic failure.
“Ask those who bought the phone to pay taxes, and you will hear stories. Yet, they expect everything from a government they do not support financially,” he added, warning that this attitude undermines national development.
Reno Omokri’s message is clear, luxury should never replace responsibility. In Nigeria’s current economic climate, complaining about the economy while flaunting gadgets like the iPhone 17 Pro Max only exposes misplaced priorities.
