Terence Crawford announces retirement from boxing at 38 with a perfect record of 42 wins, no losses

American boxing great Terence “Bud” Crawford has announced his retirement from professional boxing at the age of 38, bringing an end to one of the most accomplished careers of the modern era.
The undefeated champion made the announcement on Tuesday via his social media platforms, just months after reaching the peak of the sport.
Crawford explains emotional decision to walk away
Crawford, who dethroned Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in September in the biggest fight of his career, said the decision to step away was deeply personal.
In an emotional video message, the boxer reflected on his journey, describing boxing as a lifelong pursuit that gave him purpose, identity, and fulfilment beyond titles and money.
“Every fighter knows this moment will come. You just never know when,” Crawford said. “I spent my whole life chasing a feeling, proving people wrong when they doubted me. This sport gave me everything. I fought for my family, my city, and the kid I used to be who had nothing but a dream and a pair of gloves.”
The Omaha-born star stressed that his retirement was not driven by decline or fear, but by peace and fulfilment.
An undefeated career that redefined boxing greatness
“I’m stepping away from competition not because I’m done fighting, but because I’ve won a different kind of battle, walking away on my own terms. This isn’t goodbye; it’s the end of one fight and the beginning of another,” he added.
If this marks the final chapter of his career, Crawford exits the sport with a perfect record of 42 wins, no losses, and 31 knockouts.
He made history by becoming the first male boxer in the four-belt era to achieve undisputed champion status in three different weight divisions, light welterweight, welterweight, and super middleweight.
Crawford’s rise to undisputed greatness was sealed in July 2023 when he dismantled fellow pound-for-pound star Errol Spence Jr., forcing a ninth-round stoppage in a dominant performance that silenced long-standing doubts about his résumé.
With his gloves now seemingly hung up, Terence Crawford leaves behind a legacy defined by dominance, discipline, and an unwavering belief in his own path.
