Tenants face eviction as landlord marries younger wife

Drama has unfolded in a residential building after a landlord reportedly issued quit notices to all single male tenants following his recent marriage to a 23-year-old woman.

According to one of the affected tenants, the landlord’s wife had been abroad for nearly two years and was unwilling to return, prompting him to remarry.

However, the situation escalated when he allegedly asked all unmarried men in the building to vacate the premises.

The landlord reportedly justified his decision by claiming he did not want single men around his new wife, particularly those he described as “young and active.”

Affected tenants said they have tried to appeal the decision, but the landlord remains firm, giving them a six-month notice to leave while allowing only married tenants to stay.

“Our landlord go marry 23 years old girl because him wife go Omugwo for abroad and she no wan come back for almost 2 years now.

No be that one be the problem. The man don give all male single tenants quit notice because him believe say we go colllect the girl from am. Very fine girll wey follow money.

Now, I no know where to start from. We don beg am tire. Him no gree. Him say him no want single guys, especially those ones wey dey go gym for him house.

Him give us 6 months notice. Na only married men him no give quit notice.

Abeg, wetin law talk? Because me I no get plans to pack out. Says a tenant.
