Tems, Burna Boy make African music history on Billboard Hot 100

Nigerian musicians Tems and Burna Boy have set a new benchmark for African artists by achieving the highest number of entries on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The record was previously shared with South African band Seether, who had seven entries each.

This week, both Nigerians secured additional spots through collaborations on J. Cole’s latest album, The Fall-Off.

New entries propel record-breaking feat

Tems featured on the track Bounce Road Blues alongside Future, which debuted at number 34, while Burna Boy appeared on Only You, landing at number 78.

These placements elevated both artists’ total Hot 100 entries to eight, the most of any African performer to date.

Tems has also achieved three Hot 100 entries in 2026 alone, with Raindance featuring Dave, What You Need, and her latest hit, Bounce Road Blues, making her the African artist with the most entries this year.

Burna Boy’s historic Billboard run

Burna Boy has now cemented his legacy as the first African artist to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years.

His previous hits include Loved By You (2021), Last Last (2022), Sittin’ On Top Of The World and Talibans II (2023), Just Like Me and We Pray (2024), WGFT (2025), and Only You (2026).

This achievement highlights not only his consistency but also the global impact of African music, as both artists continue to shine on international platforms.
