Super Falcons to face Morocco in WAFCON final

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will take on hosts Morocco in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Saturday.

Morocco secured their place in the final after a dramatic 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Ghana on Tuesday night in Rabat.

The semi-final clash had ended 1-1 after extra time.

The Black Queens opened scoring in the 26th minute through Stella Nyamekye, but Morocco’s Sakina Ouzraoui restored parity 10 minutes into the second half.

In the ensuing penalty shootout, Morocco converted their first four attempts, while Ghana faltered as Evelyn Badu and Comfort Yeboah failed to score.

The Atlas Lionesses will now face the Super Falcons, who advanced to the final following their 2-1 win over defending champions South Africa.

Nigeria, nine-time WAFCON champions, are aiming to claim a record-extending 10th continental title.
