Super Falcons edge South Africa 2-1 to reach WAFCON 2024 final

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have qualified for the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a 2-1 win over South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.

The Super Falcons took the lead in the 45th minute when captain Rasheedat Ajibade converted a penalty kick.

South Africa equalized in the 50th minute through a goal by Linda Motlhalo.

The match remained level until the added time, when Michelle Alozie scored a decisive long-range strike to secure Nigeria’s place in the final.

Nigeria, nine-time WAFCON champions, maintained their unbeaten record in the tournament, having not conceded a goal until Motlhalo’s strike.
