Super Eagles to face Jordan in March friendly

Nigeria national football team will take on Jordan national football team in an international friendly during the March window.
The fixture is scheduled to be played in Amman between March 23 and 31, following an agreement reached by both football federations, according to reports from Afrik-Foot.
The game is expected to serve strategic purposes for both nations as they prepare for upcoming competitions.
Preparation for different objectives
Jordan will use the encounter as part of preparations for their first appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Middle Eastern side has been drawn alongside African opposition, including Algeria national football team, making a test against Nigeria a useful benchmark.

For Nigeria, the friendly provides an opportunity to regroup after falling short in the African qualifying playoffs.
Head coach Eric Chelle is expected to assess emerging players while rebuilding the squad ahead of future tournaments.
Uncertainty over World Cup status
Nigeria’s elimination followed a penalty shootout defeat to DR Congo national football team in Morocco. However, the issue remains under review.
The Nigeria Football Federation submitted a formal protest to FIFA in December, alleging that DR Congo fielded ineligible players during the decisive tie. A ruling is expected on Monday 16 February 2026.
If the verdict favours Nigeria, the Super Eagles could still enter the inter-confederation playoffs scheduled for next month in Mexico.
