Super Eagles to defend Unity Cup title in May

The Super Eagles will compete in the 2026 Unity Cup, scheduled to hold from May 26 to May 30 in London.
The four-nation tournament will take place at The Valley, home ground of Charlton Athletic. Nigeria will be joined by Jamaica, Zimbabwe, and India.
Tournament structure and fixtures
The competition will follow a straightforward knockout format, with two semi-final matches to determine the finalists. Winners of both ties will progress to the final, while the defeated teams are expected to feature in a third-place playoff.
Nigeria and Jamaica renew their rivalry after meeting in the previous edition’s final, where the Super Eagles edged the contest on penalties to lift the trophy.

Part of a busy international window
The Unity Cup forms part of a packed schedule for Nigeria ahead of the summer. The team is also set to face Poland and Portugal in international friendlies on June 3 and June 10 respectively.
Those fixtures are expected to serve as key preparation matches as head coach Eric Chelle continues to assess his squad depth.
High hopes from recent results
Nigeria head into the tournament on the back of positive results during the March international break, securing a win and a draw against Iran and Jordan respectively.
Chelle is expected to see the Unity Cup as an opportunity to integrate new players into the squad while maintaining competitive standards.
The Malian tactician will also aim to defend the title Nigeria won in 2025, when they defeated Ghana in the semi-finals before overcoming Jamaica in the final.
