Super Bowl 2026: Kubiak confirms Raiders move after win

Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has confirmed he will become the next head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, revealing his decision moments after guiding the Seahawks to a Super Bowl victory.
Speaking to NFL Network on Sunday night, Kubiak acknowledged his impending departure from Seattle following the Seahawks’ 29–13 win over the New England Patriots.
The confirmation came during post-game interviews, ending days of speculation around his future.
Super Bowl victory precedes announcement
Kubiak, 38, was a central figure in Seattle’s dominant offensive performance on the biggest stage, capping a successful season with a Super Bowl title.
While celebrations were still ongoing, attention quickly shifted to his next role in the NFL.
Pressed during the interview about his future, Kubiak did not shy away from confirming the move.

“You guys know I’m going to Las Vegas, I’m fired up about it,” he said. “Hell yeah, I’m going. Of course I’m going.”
The announcement ruled out any possibility of Kubiak returning to Seattle next season, with the coordinator opting to take on his first NFL head-coaching role.
Raiders job marks major career step
Kubiak is set to inherit a Raiders team coming off a difficult season, having finished 3-14, a record tied for the worst in the league.
Despite the challenge ahead, the opportunity represents a major career milestone for the former coordinator.
The agreement between Kubiak and the Raiders was reportedly reached on February 1, but formal confirmation was delayed due to league rules preventing Super Bowl-bound coaches from finalising or publicly announcing new appointments.
For Kubiak, the contrast is stark: moving from a championship-winning roster in Seattle to a rebuilding project in Las Vegas.
However, the chance to lead an NFL franchise appears to outweigh the immediate challenges.
Optimism around future direction
There is cautious optimism surrounding the Raiders’ future, with speculation that Heisman Trophy winner and national champion Fernando Mendoza could feature at quarterback next season.
Such a development would provide Kubiak with a potential cornerstone as he begins reshaping the team.
Fresh off a Super Bowl win, Kubiak now turns his focus to a long-term rebuild. For the Raiders, his arrival means a new direction, while for the Seahawks, it marks the end of a successful chapter as they prepare for change on their coaching staff.
