“Stop buying her food, open your mouth” – NYSC official advises male corpers on relationships
An NYSC official has sparked reactions online after advising male corps members to stop spending money on female colleagues they like without expressing their feelings, warning that many are quietly wasting resources trying to impress.
The advice was shared during a session at the orientation camp, where the official addressed relationship habits among corps members and cautioned against using gifts and food as a way to gain attention.
In her words, she said:
“You like a female corper, stop buying food all the time. Open your mouth and tell her. Talk! Why are you buying her food?”
She explained that instead of silent spending, male corps members should be bold enough to communicate their intentions clearly and avoid unnecessary assumptions.
The official added that direct communication helps prevent emotional stress and confusion, especially when one person is unsure of where they stand.
“Just tell her, ‘Hello dear, I like you. Do you like me back?’ Let her tell you yes or no. If she tells you, ‘I’ll think about it,’ today or tomorrow, move on. Leave her alone,” she added.
