Stella Oduah Ogiemwonyi (born January 5, 1962) is a Nigerian politician who served as Minister of Aviation from July 2, 2011, until February 12, 2014, as well as Senator from Anambra North Senatorial District.

She also served as the Director of Administration and Finance for President Goodluck Jonathan’s electoral campaign. In 2013, Oduah represented Nigeria as a delegate during Pope Francis’ inauguration.

She went with the Senate President, David Mark, and Viola Onwuliri. She has been embroiled in scandals ranging from BMW automobile inflation to her schooling and degree.

On January 5, 1962, Igwe D.O. Oduah of Akili-Ozizor, Ogbaru L.G.A., Anambra State, gave birth to Oduah. Oduah-Ogiemwonyi earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees (in accounting and business administration, respectively) in the United States. She returned to Nigeria in 1983 and joined the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Career

She was elected to the Nigerian Senate in 2015, representing the Anambra North Senatorial District. She was one of just seven women elected to the 8th. The others included Rose Okoji Oko, Uche Ekwunife, Fatimat Raji Rasaki, Oluremi Tinubu, Abiodun Olujimi, and Binta Garba.

Oduah was re-elected to his second term in the Senate in 2019. In 2022, she ran again for the APC but lost to incumbent Senator Tony Nwoye.

She quit the NNPC in 1992 to found Sea Petroleum & Gas Company Limited (SPG), a Nigerian independent marketer of petroleum products. On February 9, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) indicted Stella Oduah and the Nigerian Subsidiary of Chinese Construction Giant, CCECC, for allegedly engaging in fraudulent cash transactions totalling around N5 billion over five months in 2014.

Stella Oduah resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party on August 26, 2021, to join the All Progressives Congress. When asked why she joined the ruling party, she stated that she wanted to shift the “political narrative” in the country’s South-East area.
