Solskjaer, Howe tipped to replace under-fire Amorim at Man United

Ruben Amorim’s tenure at Manchester United is reportedly hanging by a thread after the humiliating Carabao Cup defeat to League Two side Grimsby.

Names like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Eddie Howe are already being floated as possible successors.

Although talkSPORT reports that Amorim is not in immediate danger of the sack, fans have been venting their frustrations, arguing that the Portuguese has failed to improve the club since replacing Erik ten Hag last November.

United ended last season with their worst-ever Premier League finish and a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham.

Despite significant summer investment, the Red Devils have stumbled out of the blocks again this season with two defeats and a draw.

Amorim himself has shown signs of doubt, admitting: “Sometimes I want to quit, sometimes I want to be here for 20 years.”

That uncertainty, coupled with a reputation for stubbornness, has only fueled speculation about his future.

Bookmakers now list him as the joint favourite to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked.
