“So fast?”- Concerns as Ifunaya’s choir organizes tribute for singer, asks people to register before they attend

A tribute has been organized for fast-rising Nigerian singer, Ifunaya Nwagene, who recently passed away after being bitten by a snake.
As previously reported by GistReel, the 26-year-old singer was bitten by a snake at her Abuja residence.

The Abuja Metropolitan Music Society (AMEMUSO) choir, which the singer belonged to, announced the tribute via Facebook and called for registration.
In a flyer attached to the post, the tribute is scheduled for February 8, 2026, at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, by 6pm.

Earlier, AMEMUSO choir broke silence on Ifunaya Nwagene’s passing, sharing a detailed account of her demise.
According to their Facebook post, Ifunaya, a 26-year-old soprano singer, sent a distress message to the WhatsApp group at 10:13 am, seeking help after being bitten by a snake at her Abuja residence.
Despite efforts to save her, including administering anti-venom at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), she passed away at 12:20 pm on January 31, 2026.
Earlier, Ifunaya Nwagene’s brother, Kingsley Nwangene, has broken silence on her passing, via a series of Instagram posts.
He revealed that Ifunaya reached out to him via a phone call around 8:30 am on January 31, 2026, informing him she had been bitten by a snake and was heading to the hospital.
Despite her efforts to seek medical help, she passed away, with Kingsley accusing the hospital of negligence and delaying treatment.
