The winger scored Nigeria’s opener to draw level and, in doing so, moved level with Nwankwo Kanu on the country’s all-time goals chart.

Nigeria came into the match on the back of a 2-1 win over Iran, but head coach Eric Chelle rotated his squad, making six changes to the starting XI.

Jordan struck first through Mousa Tamari in the 17th minute after a well-worked set-piece caught the Nigerian defence off guard.

Nigeria respond as Simon delivers

Nigeria responded quickly. A blocked effort from Ademola Lookman fell kindly to Simon, who controlled the ball before firing a precise finish into the net to make it 1-1.

The goal not only restored parity but also showed Simon’s growing importance in the national team setup, as he continues to deliver in key moments.

The Super Eagles took the lead before the break when Emmanuel Fernandez capitalised on a defensive lapse to score on his full debut.

Despite the advantage, Nigeria struggled to maintain control in the second half as Jordan increased the their pressing.

Late setback denies Eagles victory

Jordan found their equaliser in the 77th minute through Mohammad Al Daoud, who finished from close range after sustained pressure.

Nigeria pushed for a winner, with substitutions introduced to add attacking impetus, but failed to find a breakthrough.

The match ended on a frustrating note for the Super Eagles, who were unable to build on their earlier lead, in addition to suffering an Alex Iwobi’s red card.
