Shock as young man believed to have travelled abroad found chained by family in Anambra
A young man, identified as Chigbo, who was believed to have travelled abroad in 2021, has been found chained and locked inside a hut by his family for the past five years in Etiti village, Igbo-Ukwu, Anambra State.
According to reports, Chigbo’s family told his friends that he had gone to Europe, while he remained confined at home.
The exact circumstances of his prolonged detention and the individuals responsible are still under investigation.
A video circulating on social media shows Chigbo regaining his freedom. In the footage, he said, “I’ve been locked here since July 3rd, 2021,” expressing clear relief at his release.
The shocking discovery has caused outrage in the community, with residents demanding justice and accountability.
The owner of the house where Chigbo was kept claims he was mentally unstable, which allegedly prompted the family to chain him inside the hut since 2021.
