‘She told me not to leave” – Lady shares how one night at her cousin’s place landed her in prison

A Nigerian lady has shared a heartbreaking story of how a simple visit to her cousin’s home turned into a nightmare that ended with loss, accusation, and nearly a year behind bars.
In a viral TikTok post shared by a user identified as @Awele, she revealed that she visited her cousin’s sister and initially planned to stay for just three days.
Despite having plans to leave, her cousin persuaded her to stay one extra night, a decision she never imagined would change her life forever.
Unknown to both of them, there was a long-standing feud between her father and her cousin’s father. She said the issue never affected their relationship and played no role in their bond.
That night, armed robbers broke into the house and demanded their phones.
She said she immediately handed over hers, but her cousin refused, explaining that robbers had stolen from her before and she would not give it up again.
The situation quickly turned violent. The attackers stabbed her cousin.
Her cousin was rushed to the hospital, where they spent two days hoping she would survive. Sadly, she died on the third day.
Instead of mourning together, the tragedy took a darker turn.
The deceased’s parents accused the lady of orchestrating the attack, claiming she was sent to kill their daughter because of the old family feud.
She was arrested and detained for 11 months. During that time, she missed her graduation, while her family struggled financially, borrowing money to fight her case.
She described watching her father cry as the most painful part of the entire ordeal.
