“She stopped greeting me after I advised her to leave him” — More details emerge over young lady’s death

More details have emerged over the death of Olumma Chizoba Lucy Akataobi, a 29-year-old mother of two, who reportedly died on Monday, February 2.

The circumstances surrounding her death have triggered public outrage, with her family accusing her husband of domestic violence and demanding a full investigation.

Family Alleges Fatal Assault

Ollumma’s sister, Ezinne Onyedikachi Brenda Akataobi, accused her husband, Kelechi Prince Okeke, of beating her to death after a disagreement over ₦35,000.

According to Ezinne, the money was paid by a customer into Kelechi’s bank account, and the argument started when Ollumma asked him to release it.

She alleged that the disagreement turned violent and resulted in her sister’s death.

Husband Denies Allegation

Kelechi has denied the accusation, offering a different version of events.

He claimed his wife was eating when she suddenly screamed, “my chest, my chest,” before vomiting and collapsing.

Sister Disputes Account

Ezinne rejected his claim, insisting her sister was healthy earlier that day.

She said Ollumma spent time with their mother and later went to the market for her business without showing any signs of illness.

According to her, neighbours reported hearing the couple quarrelling shortly before Ollumma’s death.

She also shared a voice note allegedly from a neighbour who said she heard the argument but was too tired to intervene after returning from church.

Former Landlady Speaks Out

As the story spread online, a woman identified as Joy Maurice claimed she was Kelechi’s former landlady during his relationship with Ollumma.

Joy alleged that Kelechi frequently assaulted Ollumma whenever she visited him.

She said she advised Ollumma to leave the relationship because of the abuse, but the advice affected their relationship.

“She stopped greeting me after I advised her to leave him,” Joy claimed.

She added that she later issued Kelechi a quit notice due to his violent behaviour.

Calls for Justice

Ollumma’s death has sparked widespread concern, with family members and community residents calling on authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly.

Many Nigerians online are demanding justice and renewed action against domestic violence.
