“She saw the fear in my eyes” – Lady recounts how her tailor’s question made her call off her wedding
A Nigerian lady has gone viral after revealing how her tailor repeatedly warned her against marrying her fiancé, advice she initially ignored until a shocking incident changed everything.
According to the lady, the tailor first questioned her decision while taking measurements for her traditional wedding dress, asking if she was certain she wanted to marry the man.
Recalling the encounter, she said:
“She stopped and asked me, ‘Are you sure you are going to marry him?’ I told her to face her sewing and stop interfering in things that didn’t concern her.”
The lady said the same question came up again during her first fitting.
Although she dismissed it at the time, she later began noticing controlling behaviour from her fiancé, including his insistence that she save her money in his account, something she overlooked because she was focused on the wedding preparations.
She said the turning point came when her fiancé allegedly slapped her for attending her cousin’s introduction ceremony without first seeking his permission.
“That was when everything started making sense. I cancelled the wedding and later asked my tailor how she knew. She said she noticed the way he controlled everything and saw fear in my eyes from the very first day,” she added.
The revelation has since sparked reactions on social media, with many users praising the tailor for speaking up, saying her persistence may have saved the lady from an unhappy marriage.
Reflecting on her decision, the lady said she has no regrets, adding that “a broken relationship is better than a broken marriage.”
