“She borrowed my gas, finished it and asked me to return it again” — Resident recounts neighbour dispute

A resident has narrated a dispute with a female neighbour over the use and refill of a cooking gas cylinder, highlighting growing concerns over boundary issues among neighbours in shared residential spaces.
According to the resident, the incident occurred after he returned from work and was approached by the neighbour, who requested to borrow his gas cylinder. He said he obliged without hesitation, despite the gas being nearly empty, as he had already bought food from a nearby eatery.
However, tensions arose the following morning when he visited her apartment to retrieve the cylinder before heading to church, only to be told that the gas had been exhausted during use the previous evening.
Unexpected response sparks tension
The resident explained that the neighbour claimed to have refilled just 1kg into the cylinder and insisted he return it after use, stating she was not done with it.
“I went to collect my gas, and she told me it had finished, but she added 1kg and asked me to bring it back because she was still using it. I thought she was joking and said ‘otilor’, but her response shocked me,” he said.
He added, “She said, ‘Am I the one that will refill your gas? Return it before you go to church.’ This is someone who borrows my gas regularly, at least twice a week. I collected it and decided I won’t return it again.”
Recurring neighbour conflicts
Neighbour-related disputes over shared resources have been increasingly reported in recent years, often escalating due to misunderstandings over ownership and responsibility.
The resident noted that the incident has strained their relationship, adding that he has no intention of lending his gas cylinder to the neighbour again.
