“Shame has covered me” – Woman cries out after selling belongings, visa gets denied

A Nigerian woman has sparked reactions online after opening up on her disappointment following a failed visa application, despite making public plans to relocate abroad.

The story was shared on Facebook by Racheal Joseph, where the woman expressed deep regret and embarrassment over how events unfolded.

Relocation Plans Fail

According to the woman, she had been confident about relocating out of Nigeria after being assured by an agent that her visa was guaranteed.

Convinced the move would happen, she went ahead to inform people in her compound and even sold off most of her household belongings in preparation.

She said she boldly told neighbors that she was leaving for good, believing there was no chance of failure.

Public Announcement

The situation became more difficult after her mother also announced the planned relocation in church.

However, things took a different turn when the visa application was denied, leaving her confused about how to face people and explain what happened.

Regret Over Ignoring Husband’s Advice

The woman revealed that her husband had earlier advised caution, suggesting they wait before making public announcements or taking major steps.

However, she chose to trust the agent’s assurance that the visa would be approved.

Seeks Advice on What to Do Next

Overwhelmed by shame and uncertainty, she turned to social media to seek advice on how to handle the situation.

In her words: “…Shame has covered me. Shame has taken over, shame has disgraced me.

Please mama where do I rush to or where do I go to? I already told everyone in my compound that I am leaving Nigeria. I was so sure and sold my household items. I told them never again will they see me. The only thing I have never seen buyer is my pot and plate, only for us to be denied visa.

Even my mum has told church we are leaving. How do I handle this? What do I say to those that purchased from us? How do I do this one now? My husband warned me and said please let’s wait, but the agent said it is a must we’ll get it. We didn’t get it.”
