Crown Uzama (born April 12, 2000), known as Shallipopi, is a Nigerian singer, rapper, and composer. He gained stardom in 2023 after the release of his song “Elon Musk.” He followed up with the extended play Planet Pluto (2023).  Presido La Pluto, his debut studio album, was released in 2023 and debuted at number one in the Turntable Top 50.

It also debuted at number one on Apple Music’s Top 100 albums chart.  Shallipopi’s second studio album, Shakespopi (2024), became his second chart-topping success. The album’s song “ASAP” reached number one on the TurnTable Top 100.  He released the single “Laho” in 2025 through his own label, Plutomania Records, which he has owned since 1993.

Crown Uzama, also known as Shallipopi, was born on April 12, 2000, in the dynamic city of Benin, Edo State, Nigeria. He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Uzama and has a brother, Zerry DL, who is a musician. From a young age, the rhythmic pulse of music coursed through his blood, calling him down a road lit by creative brilliance.

The harmonious blend of Afrobeats, R&B, and hip-hop became his musical playground, with important musicians such as Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy serving as sources of inspiration. Shallipopi began creating songs when he was 14 years old, turning his innermost thoughts into lyrical tapestries.

Career

Shallipopi started his career in 2015 by creating and sharing freestyle videos on social media sites like TikTok.  “Gra Gra” was his first single, which was released in late 2021.  He released the singles “Power” and “Shaka” in 2022. When his song “Elon Musk” was released in March 2023, he made a breakthrough. His next single, “Sharpiru,” was released on April 20, 2023, as a result of the song being a sleeper smash.

After “Elon Musk” became famous, Shallipopi released a remix with Zlatan on May 18, 2023. The song gained popularity in both the US and Europe as a result of the remix. Shallipopi was revealed by Apple Music as the newest featured artist in its Up Next program on June 20, 2023.

A new remix of “Elon Musk” featuring Fireboy DML was made available on June 23, 2023. On July 7, he then released the song “Ex Convict” and its accompanying music video. “Ex Convict” made its debut in the Turntable Top 100 at number six.

On July 10, the song was released as the lead single from his first extended play. Fireboy DML, Zlatan, and Pa Monday-Edo are among the guests on Shallipopi’s debut EP, Planet Pluto, which was released on July 14, 2023.

He appeared on Tekno’s song “So What” on August 20, 2023. His tracks “Things on Things” and “Oscroh (Pepperline)” were released on October 13. He made an appearance on the remix of Zerrydl’s song “Puff & Pass” on October 20, 2023. He established Plutomania Records in 2023 and signed Tega Boi and Zerry DL.

“Evil Receive” was released by him on November 8. He released three singles the following day, November 9: “Cast” with Odumodublvck, “Wet on Me” with Zerry DL, and “Over the Seas” with Focalistic.

Many of the previously released singles were used on his debut studio album, Presido La Pluto, which was released in November 2023. On February 9, 2024, Shallipopi and other musicians were featured in the song “A Collision of Two Worlds 2.0” by The Real Prechly. His second album, Shakespopi, which included Jeneral, Tegaboi DC, and Reehaa, was released on April 11, 2024. It made its debut at the top of the Turntable’s Top 100 Albums.

Shallipopi appeared on King Promise’s song “Continental” on June 12, 2024. He made an appearance on Rema’s track “Benin Boys” from the album Heis on June 20, 2024. With one million plays on its first day and a debut at the top of the TurnTable Top 100, the song was an enormous success.

Stubborn, Victony’s first studio album, was released on June 21, 2024, and features Asake and Shallipopi as special guests. The song “Ludo” from the album featured Shallipopi.  Commercial success was attained by the song, which peaked at number 7 on the Official Radio Songs chart and number 21 on the Turntable Top 100. Shallipopi performed “Benin Boys” with Rema and Zerry DL at the 2024 UK Wireless Festival in July.

Controversy

On June 23, 2023, Shallipopi and five others were found guilty of online fraud, also known as Yahoo, and sentenced to two years in prison with the option of paying fines.

According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Shallipopi and his friends defrauded people using fictitious identities.

All electronic gadgets, furniture, and other property seized from the group were ordered to be forfeited to the Nigerian Federal Government.

Undeterred by the setback, Shallipopi boldly returned to the forefront with his follow-up hit, Ex Convict. This bold single immediately rose to the coveted ranks of the Nigerian Apple Music Top 100: Nigeria chart, creating an indelible impression on fans far and wide. The song was supported by Afrobeats legends Wizkid and Davido.

Shallipopi devotees are known as Plutomanias! They reside in the Pluto community! A senior member of the Pluto community is known as a Plutocanapist.

He is the creator of the slang term Men Mount.

Personal Life

Shallipopi’s personal life has not been revealed; for the time being, he keeps it private while focusing on his music career and brand development. He is unmarried and has no girlfriend or children.

On the other hand, his music exposes much about his personality and experiences. However, in the future, everything about his family will be posted on social media.
