Sesko chooses Newcastle over Man United

RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has reportedly opted for a move to Newcastle United over Manchester United.

According to Slovenian outlet Delo, the 22-year-old has agreed to join Eddie Howe’s squad, citing Champions League football and Newcastle’s readiness to meet Leipzig’s financial demands as key factors.

Despite Manchester United’s interest, driven by director of recruitment Christopher Vivell, who previously worked with Sesko at RB Salzburg, Newcastle appear to have moved ahead in the race, with talks now advancing.

Sesko, valued at over £70 million plus add-ons, has a gentleman’s agreement with Leipzig to leave if a suitable offer arrives.

The Slovenian striker netted 21 goals last season and is seen as a direct replacement for Alexander Isak, whose future now hangs in the balance.

Liverpool recently tabled a £110 million bid for Isak, £10 million below an earlier informal offer, which Newcastle quickly rejected.

The Magpies have placed a £150 million price tag on the Swede, who scored 23 Premier League goals last term and is reportedly eager to move to Anfield.

He is currently training alone at former club Real Sociedad.

Sesko’s potential arrival would greenlight Isak’s exit, as Newcastle seek to remain compliant with financial regulations.

The Magpies had explored alternatives including Ollie Watkins and Yoane Wissa, but Sesko is now the clear priority.
