Serie A: Roma set to sack Mourinho this weekend

AS Roma owner Dan Friedkin is reportedly considering to sack Jose Mourinho if the Giallorossi lose their upcoming match against Cagliari.

According to reports by Il Corriere dello Sport, Friedkin is prepared to make this decision based on the team’s performance in their Sunday away game.

The newspaper claims that the decision to part ways with Mourinho was initially made after Roma’s 4-1 loss to Genoa on September 28.

However, Director Tiago Pinto convinced Friedkin to give Mourinho another chance.

Now, Friedkin is said to have already identified Hans-Dieter Flick, the former manager of the German national team and Bayern Munich, as a potential replacement for Mourinho.

Roma has faced a tough start to the Serie A season, winning only two games in their first seven league matches.

While they have had success in the Europa League, winning both of their opening games, their domestic performance has come under serious scrutiny.

Mourinho’s contract with Roma is meant to expire in June 2024.
