Semenyo shines as Man City move within three points of Arsenal in Fulham win

Manchester City reduced Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League to three points after a dominant first-half performance secured a routine victory over Fulham at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s side, still buoyed by their late comeback at Liverpool last weekend, settled the contest before the break with three goals in a ruthless 15-minute spell.

The result keeps the pressure on Arsenal ahead of their upcoming fixture against Brentford.

Clinical first-half blitz

City took control when Fulham midfielder Sander Berge miscued a defensive header into the path of Antoine Semenyo, who reacted quickly to poke home from close range.

The January signing continued his fine run of form, notching his fifth goal in eight appearances for the champions.

Six minutes later, Semenyo turned provider. The Ghanaian slid a precise through ball into the stride of Nico O’Reilly, who kept his composure to lift a neat finish over goalkeeper Bernd Leno and double the advantage.

Fulham struggled to recover from the setback, and City capitalised again before half-time.

Phil Foden released Erling Haaland with a well-weighted pass, and the Norwegian forward drilled a low shot into the bottom corner to effectively seal the contest.

Fulham left to regret missed chance

Marco Silva’s side had an opportunity to shift the tide when Harry Wilson tested Gianluigi Donnarumma with a low effort at 1-0.

The City goalkeeper reacted sharply to parry the attempt, denying Fulham a potential equaliser.

That save proved decisive. Instead of drawing level, Fulham found themselves chasing a two-goal deficit moments later.

The visitors have now suffered three consecutive league defeats, raising concerns about their form.
