Semenyo inspires Man City comeback win over Atletico Madrid
Antoine Semenyo played a key role as Manchester City came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid 3-1 in a pre-season friendly in Seoul, South Korea, on Sunday.
The Ghanaian-born forward provided the assists for both of Omar Marmoush’s second-half goals as Enzo Maresca’s side overturned a first-half deficit to secure another victory during their Asian tour.

Semenyo sets up Marmoush twice
Atletico went ahead shortly before half-time after City failed to deal with Koke’s corner. Morten Hjulmand kept the attack alive before 16-year-old Jorge Dominguez fired past Gianluigi Donnarumma.
City responded strongly after the break and drew level in the 57th minute through Marmoush.
Semenyo showed impressive composure to keep the ball in play before driving into the Atletico penalty area from the left. His low delivery found Marmoush, who made no mistake from close range.
The combination worked again just two minutes later.
Semenyo once more created space down the left before sending another low cross into the box, allowing Marmoush to finish and complete his quickfire double.
The Egyptian forward’s two goals turned the contest around and highlighted the attacking threat City can offer from wide areas.
Ait-Nouri seals victory in Seoul
Atletico had an opportunity to level when South Korea international Lee Kang-in was introduced in the second half.
The midfielder was picked out unmarked inside the penalty area but could only steer his first-time effort narrowly wide of the post.
City eventually put the result beyond doubt in stoppage time when Rayan Ait-Nouri raced onto Divin Mubama’s through ball and fired a low effort into the bottom corner.
More than 50,000 supporters watched the game at Seoul World Cup Stadium, with Lee receiving one of the loudest receptions of the evening.
The victory was City’s second in Seoul and their second win during their three-match Asian tour. They previously lost to Inter Milan on penalties after a 1-1 draw in Hong Kong before beating a K League All-Stars side 3-1.
City will now return to Europe ahead of their Community Shield meeting with Premier League champions Arsenal at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Sunday, August 16.
