Ronaldinho makes dramatic return to football, signs for Italian Serie C side Ravenna

Brazilian football icon Ronaldinho has come out of retirement to complete a surprise move to Ravenna, beginning an unexpected new chapter at the age of 46.

The former Barcelona and AC Milan star landed at Forlì airport before travelling to Ravenna, where he was welcomed as the club’s latest high-profile addition.

Ronaldinho reveals ambition with Ravenna

Ravenna president Ignazio Cipriani played a key role in bringing the former Brazil international to the club and said Ronaldinho was attracted by the project and the opportunity to reconnect with friends.

The club hopes the 2002 World Cup winner can make at least one appearance as part of an ambitious initiative aimed at generating greater interest around the team.

Ronaldinho also expressed his excitement after arriving in the Romagna city, making it clear that he wants to contribute to the club’s campaign.

“I’m very happy to be here, with friends, we hope things go well for the team,” Ronaldinho said.

“I came here to help, to excite the other players, to have a spectacular season and win.”

Brazilian looks back on Milan memories

Ronaldinho also reflected on his previous experience in Italian football during his time with AC Milan.

The Brazilian spent three seasons at the San Siro after joining Milan from Barcelona in 2008, scoring 26 goals in 95 appearances for the Rossoneri.

Asked about his favourite memory from his spell in Italy, Ronaldinho highlighted his memorable performance in the Milan derby.

“My time in Italy? I had many good moments but the goal in the derby is one of the memories that gives me the most pleasure,” he said.
