Real Betis prepare fresh bid for Antony

Antony’s Manchester United future is set to be decided soon, with Real Betis set to submit a fresh offer within the next 24 hours.

The Brazilian winger, signed from Ajax for £85m in 2022, has endured a troubled spell at Old Trafford and is not part of manager Ruben Amorim’s plans, having been placed in the so-called “bomb squad” this summer.

An initial loan approach from Betis was rejected, but the Spanish side are pushing again for a permanent deal before the transfer deadline.

United are keen to secure a fee for one of their most expensive signings, particularly after heavy spending on new attacking options this window.

Antony, who scored nine goals in all competitions during his loan spell with Betis last season, is eager to return to La Liga and has reportedly made Betis his preferred destination.

Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini said: “I’ve not spoken with Antony. We all know that he was very good here; we want him with us, and Antony wants to return, no doubt.

“But we also need the owner, which is Manchester United, to make a decision.”

If a deal cannot be agreed, Antony faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford, with little possibility of being reintegrated into the first team under Amorim.
