RB Leipzig waiting for Chelsea’s opening bid for Xavi Simons

RB Leipzig are yet to receive an official bid from Chelsea for Dutch playmaker Xavi Simons, despite growing interest from the Premier League club.

The 22-year-old has emerged as a top target for Chelsea following an impressive Bundesliga season on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, during which he recorded 10 goals and 7 assists in just 25 appearances, averaging a goal contribution every 127 minutes.

Leipzig had hoped to secure Simons on a permanent deal, but the player is reportedly pushing for a move, with Chelsea keen to capitalise.

However, no formal proposal has been submitted by the London club, stalling negotiations.

According to journalist Philipp Hinze, the situation surrounding Leipzig teammate Benjamin Šeško is currently more active.

Newcastle United submitted an opening offer of €75m plus €5m in add-ons for the Slovenian striker, which Leipzig swiftly rejected.

For Simons, Leipzig are open to discussions but will only move forward once Chelsea table an official offer.

Talks have been stagnant over the last 48 hours, but the Bundesliga side remain on standby.
