Rashford struggles to adapt to Flick’s ‘intense’ Barcelona pre-season

Marcus Rashford says he is finding Barcelona’s pre-season training under head coach Hansi Flick “very intense” as he adjusts to life in Spain following his loan move from Manchester United.

The 26-year-old forward, who joined the La Liga champions after losing his place at Old Trafford, described Flick’s methods as “complex” and “relentless,” particularly during the club’s recent tour of Asia.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Rashford said he has been “tired after every workout” due to the combination of high-tempo ball work and sweltering weather conditions.

Despite the challenges, Rashford said training alongside talents such as Pedri has been “refreshing” and that he values winning titles over personal statistics this season.

His competitive debut, however, may be delayed. Barcelona president Joan Laporta has warned that the club is still working to register Rashford ahead of their La Liga opener against Mallorca on August 16, citing ongoing squad registration issues.

Barcelona have until the end of August to complete registrations, meaning Rashford could feature later in the month if the matter is resolved.
