Rashford fires Barcelona closer to La Liga title after Getafe win

Marcus Rashford scored as Barcelona moved a step closer to retaining the La Liga title with victory over Getafe.
The win extends Barcelona’s lead to 11 points over Real Madrid, who had earlier dropped points in a draw with Real Betis, leaving Hansi Flick’s side in firm control with five matches remaining.
Barcelona take control before break
Fermín López opened the scoring just before half-time, finishing after being played through by Pedri.
Barcelona controlled much of the first half despite the absence of Lamine Yamal, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury.

Rashford seals win on the break
Introduced after the hour mark, Rashford made a decisive impact. The forward finished a counter-attack, racing onto a long ball from Robert Lewandowski before calmly beating David Soria.
The goal was his seventh in La Liga since arriving on loan from Manchester United.
Title within reach
Getafe pushed for an equaliser in the second half but were unable to break down Barcelona’s defence as the visitors managed the game effectively.
With a significant points cushion and limited fixtures remaining, Barcelona are now firmly positioned to secure a 29th league title.
Barring a major collapse, Flick’s side are on course to retain their domestic crown and underline their dominance in Spanish football this season.
